10 Cozy Crafts To Try this Fall

There is something about fall and honestly it carries into winter about doing some cozy crafts and I am all about it this fall! I have rounded up some of the cozy craft projects that I have pinned to my Pinterest board for the fall and I can’t wait to share them with you! I think the first one that I want to start with is the felt garland! It seems like a little bit of a challenge but also pretty simple like I won’t completely mess it up! Before you get into the whole blog post I wanted to make an easy place for all of the craft ideas that I linked below are in one spot! I will link my Fall Craft Ideas Pinterest board right here! I can’t wait to hear which ones you are choosing to do, I feel like the ones I chose are the perfect small intro crafts!

DIY Fall Wreath

About THREE years ago, I started making this pumpkin wreath that I saw on TikTok and this is my year, I am DETERMINED to finish this wreath and hang it up for fall! Wreaths are so easy to DIY beucuse you get to make it what you want! You can use faux fall foliage, pine cones, or like me you can use felt pumpkins and hot glue! I will link a few tutorials to different fall wreath options for you to choose from but the nice thing about this craft is that you can reuse it over and over again each year, it isn’t necessarily a craft that you only get one use from! Whether you prefer a traditional autumn color scheme or want to incorporate a more modern twist, the possibilities are seriously endless for what you can create!

Cinnamon Stick Bundles

Another easy and good smelling if I might add craft that you can do this fall is to create these cute cinnamon stick bundles. These cinnamon stick bundles are cute and smell great which is awesome because I love a multipurpose piece of decor! This is a super easy craft, you just need some cinnamon sticks, twine or string and then some sort of ribbon to create these. I also wrote a blog post about a year ago about a DIY Cinnamon Spray to freshen up any room in a little bit more of a natural way! I will link that blog post for you here!

Painted Ghost Picture Frames

These crafts are another one that I have seen all over TikTok and again I might be delusional but I think they would be so easy to do! You really just need a frame, construction paper and some paint to recreate this project. I love the way the little ghosts look floating in the frame but I also linked some other ghost paint type projects for you guys to check out as well! This season might be the time that I finally try one of those spackle paintings I see everywhere. I also linked the supplies that you will need to create the diy ghost picture frames!

Painted Candlesticks

The painted candlestick trend is so cute and you can do so many designs and different candles for different seasons but how cute would little ghosts be on a black candlestick?! To create these painted candlesticks, grab a few plain candlesticks in varying sizes and then choose a color scheme and design that you are wanting to add to your home for your fall decor. I have seen it where people use acrylic paint and a small paintbrush to carefully paint the candlesticks, but I have also seen people use other colored melted wax to create the designs that they want. After you apply multiple coats and the paint has dried completely, place your painted candlesticks on a mantel or dining table for a cozy touch! I linked some examples and tutorials as well as the supplies below!

Terracotta Pumpkins

I have been obsessed for a few years now with the Pottery Barn Terracotta Pumpkins and I have never pulled the trigger to buy one. BUT, I can definitely get behind doing this DIY to make the cheap plastic pumpkins look like a Pottery Barn Purchase! It’s super easy and you really only need a few supplies like the fake pumpkins, some paint mixed with baking soda and a paintbrush! The nice thing about this project too is that you can’t really mess it up because the terracotta look isn’t smooth! Like I said, super easy to make and even cuter to have out as decor! I linked a more in depth tutorial below as well as a list of supplies that you need to do the craft!

Dried Orange Garland

To me this is really a craft that can be done in the fall and then carried into the winter and be used as Christmas decor, depending on the direction you are going with! These are super easy to make and will perfectly complement your cozy fall atmosphere. To make the dried orange garland, you will start by thinly slicing oranges and laying them on a baking sheet. You will bake them at a low temperature until they are dried out, making your house smell like a delicious citrus smell! Once those are cooled, you will string the slices together with twine to create a beautiful garland that will add a warm touch to your autumn decor. I linked a really great tutorial below as well as all of the supplies that you will need to create this!

Painted Front Porch Rugs

These tutorials are all over the place on TikTok for all of the seasons that you can imagine and they are so cute! Sure you can buy these on Etsy which I fully support but if you want to try your hand at painting one of these rugs yourself I think you should go for it! All you need is the rug, some paint, a stencil and some spray sealer to keep it all in place! I think these are so cute and in my mind, with a stencil, I feel like WHAT CAN GO WRONG haha! I have linked a tutorial below as well as the supplies that you will need to paint the ghost version of this front porch rug!

Pumpkin Pie Felt Garland

If the orange slice garland isn’t your thing you can create the cutest garlands from felt and string, there are so many examples on Pinterest and they turn out so cute! These garlands can add a festive touch to your mantle and can be fit into any theme that you are trying to go for! For the Pumpkin Pie Felt Garland specifically, you will start by cutting out pumpkin pie slice shapes from orange and brown felt. Then cut details like whipped cream swirls and cinnamon sprinkle accents for extra flair. You can glue them together or you can sew them and stuff them to make them more three dimensional. String them together with twine or ribbon to make the actual garland and you are set! There are a few options below and all of the things you need to make the perfect garland for your mantle!

DIY Halloween Ghost Pillow

These pillows are the cutest and I have seen people doing these on TikTok for a couple of years now. I think this is a project that looks like it would be really complicated but honestly I don’t think it would be as hard as it seems! I think this one might be one craft though where you don’t have some of the supplies already on hand, I know I didn’t. I linked a tutorial for the craft below as well as the supplies that you will need to complete it!

DIY Clay Ghost

These DIY Clay Ghosts look so easy to make and you can do so much with them, add a little bit of acrylic paint to and you will have some adorable clay ghosts to decorate your house this fall and Halloween. It seems like these are all over my Pinterest feed, like I said, a simple and fun craft that will double as decor! All you need is some clay, a little bit of acrylic paint, and your imagination to bring these adorable creatures to life. And the possibilities are endless – from simple white ghosts to colorful, personalized ones! I have also seen a lot of clay magnets so having this clay on hand will be helpful to try that craft as well!

Anyways, like I’ve mentioned a lot recently I have really been into doing things that force me to slow down and be able to relax and shut my mind off! What I like about these craft there are so many different ones to choose from based on the supplies that you already have, your Skill level (even though most of these seem pretty simple, especially with the tutorials!) and the time that you have to do them. I know I have also said this but since I have started adding things into my nightly routines I have just felt so much better overall, slowing down and stepping back from technology a bit has been great for my mental health! Plus with these being crafts you get to add a little something seasonal to your home! If you have tried any of these hobbies let me know and if you have more that you think should be on this list I will definitely add them! If you have any other questions you can drop a comment below or send me an email at hello@emmatarynjones.com and I will get back to you ASAP!
