Unlock the Art of Hosting: Your Ultimate Guide to Exceptional Hospitality
It’s no secret that I absolutely love to host! We genuinely enjoy having friends and family come over for dinner or spend a weekend at our house. We also really love everything that goes into hosting, we love making people feel invited, welcomed and special when they are staying with us so I like to go above and beyond when it comes to prepping to host someone. Here is a quick checklist that I like to use to make sure our guests feel extra special when they are staying with us!
The Ultimate Hosting Checklist:
Pillows of Different Firmness: Make sure that you have a few different options when it comes to firmness of pillows on the bed they will be sleeping on. Everyone has different preferences and having a couple of different options will make sure that they have the maximum amount of comfort!
Extra Blankets: Not everyone that is staying with you will mention or even comment on the temperature of the room they are staying in. I like to keep a couple of extra blankets for them to be able to just grab when they need them. Two additional things; one, make sure to tell your guests where the extra blankets are so they don’t need to ask! Two, I like to make sure I ask about the temperature of the room towards the beginning of the stay. Bonus points if you make sure there is a fan available for them to use as well.
Hangers and Hanging Room in the Closet: In the closet that is in each of our guest rooms there are a handful of hangers for our guests to be able to use for things they would like to hang up. Not everyone will use them but it is a nice touch so they don’t feel like they are truly living out of a suitcase for their whole stay.
Table for Luggage/Bags: This isn’t the easiest addition to a room but I do try to have something for them to have a dedicated spot for them to put their luggage and bags. This is another way of helping them to feel organized and like they aren’t just living out of bags for their entire stay.
Phone Chargers: This feels like a no brainer but I like to make sure that there is at least one phone charger for them to use while they are here. Most people will bring their own but it’s nice to not have to get back behind the bed and fuss with a charging cable. This way, one is already plugged in and ready to be used.
Welcome Basket: This isn’t something I do each time but it is really fun to curate a thoughtful welcome basket filled with goodies to make your guests feel right at home. These can be tailored to each person that is staying with you based on their favorite snacks, drinks, just a little something to make them feel special!
Guest Essentials: I have written many posts about this but I am always stocked up on essential items like toiletries for any guest to use when they are staying with us. Toothbrush, tooth paste, deodorant, contact solution, lotion, face wash, face masks, sunscreen, medicines, etc. I don’t want people to feel stressed about forgetting something when they are here visiting!
I really do like to focus on creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for all of our guests. As mentioned before, from making a curated welcome basket filled with carefully chosen treats to setting up a cozy bedroom that feels like a home away from home as well as having all of those possible forgotten bathroom essentials .All of these things are done to make sure that guests have everything they need to make sure they feel truly special during their stay.
