27” Skylight Wall Calendar

For Christmas we got this 27” Skylight Wall Calendar from Dustin's parents and it has really been a game changer in our lives for sure! It connects to an app on our phone and automatically syncs when we update our Apple or Google calendars! We really like it and use it more than we initially thought we might. I also love that we were able to mount it and it just looks like a hanging frame on our wall! There is a feature that allows you to add pictures so that the screensaver is photos rather than the generic screen and that is next on my list of things to do because I think that will be really cool! We like it so much I wanted to touch on some of the features that it has as well as some pros and cons to having the 27” Skylight Wall Calendar! All of the links I share below will link to my Amazon Storefront where you can get the smaller versions of the Skylight Wall Calendar! If you want to shop the larger 27” Skylight Wall Calendar then you can click here and it will take you to the larger size! I will go more into detail about it all below!

Features of the skylight calendar

Chore Chart: We are able to have "chores" on the calendar that we use more for reminders for the day like "we need to do the dishes" or "mow the lawn this weekend" but it is nice to have the option if a household had kids to make a chore chart!

Color Coding: Both Dustin and I have our own color which makes it easy to see who is doing what or where we are and when.

Mobile App: I use the app to access everything that is on the physical Skylight calendar but I can do it from anywhere with the app on my phone, I can also add in new appointments from my phone and they will show up on the main calendar when I am on the go.

Custom Lists: I sort of mentioned this before but we are able to assign and manage tasks, to-dos, and grocery list with different custom lists that the we have created either directly on the main calendar or on the go in the app

Dinner Planning: We are able to add daily breakfast, lunch and dinner plans for the whole both of us to see which eliminates either of us asking the other what’s for dinner each night. It really just takes the mental load off of us to have things pre-planned. We mainly use it for dinners though! If you have kids it might be nice to add in school lunch for kiddos to see.

Customized Views: There are a few different font sizes and you can switch between day, week, month, and schedule view. We usually choose the week view so we have a good idea of what is coming up during the week.

Weather: A cool function that we like is that it will also show you the weather forecast for your area as well as the weather for the location of your upcoming events during the time that you will be there.

Share Access: Only Dustin and I have access to our account but the sharing feature would be nice if you wanted to give access to your calendar for other people like kids or grandparents.

Sleep Mode: We have our Skylight in the kitchen hallway so the light function really doesn’t bother us but you can set it up so that the screen goes to sleep at the same time each night and wakes up at the same time each morning.

Pros of the skylight calendar

  • Convenient digital syncing: I really like that it integrates with our digital calendars, keeping everything in one place and always up to date regardless of where we add something into the calendar.

  • Interactive and user-friendly: I think that the calendar is very user friendly with its touchscreen and I like that it’s not hard to move forward or backward in weeks if needed.

  • Customizable: The whole calendar is very customizable and we were able to swap out how we wanted the display to look with colors, styles and themes to make it our own.

  • Real-time updates: Again, there hasn’t really ever been a delay in the calendar updating. If I am out and make an appointment and Dustin is looking at the calendar, he will get the update pretty much automatically. The same goes for if I make a change to an appointment time, it will automatically update on the calendar for us on its own.

  • Weather feature: I know I mentioned this before but I really like the weather function of it. It will show us the weather forecast for our area as well as the weather for the location of your upcoming events during the time that you will be there which is helpful if you need to make a change to plans due to the weather it is sharing.

  • Compact design: We were worried that the 27" size would take up too much space but it is so perfect. It’s large enough to be easy to read and navigate but it is still very compact and doesn’t take up too much space on the wall nor does it stick out too much. We have ours in a hallway and you can’t really tell a difference.

cons for the skylight calendar

Keep in mind, as I was listing the cons, the pros completely outweigh the cons that I could think of. I just wanted to be transparent with some of the things we did came up with that could be considered cons.

  • Requires a power source: Unlike a paper calendar, this one needs to be plugged in or regularly charged. We ended up adding in a new box behind the calendar to be able to always have it plugged in. If you think this might be an issue for you, maybe opt for a smaller one that can go on the counter.

  • Potential technical issues: Depending on your Wi-Fi or syncing settings, there may be occasional glitches or even some delays with syncing information but we have had ours for just under 6 months and haven’t experiences anything like that.

  • Price: The digital features and smart technology can make this calendar significantly more expensive than a standard paper version but you are also getting a lot more for the price. We also pay the yearly fee of $39 which is how we get access to the photo screensaver, Sidekick, the chore rewards, meal planning and more which was worth it to us!

If you couldn’t tell, 27” the Skylight Wall Calendar has truly exceeded our expectations and has honestly become a part of our daily routine. It is so easy to use and has been simple to add into our day to day life. The Skylight Calendar has taken our many digital calendars and has made scheduling and organizing a breeze. The added feature of customizing the screensaver with photos is a nice touch and I can’t wait to look into that more. Like I said, there are a couple of things to think about when weighing the pros and cons but the benefits far outweigh them! If you're looking for an easy way to stay organized with a touch of style, I can’t say enough good things about the Skylight Wall Calendar!
