6 Step Spicy Italian Sausage Pasta
When it comes to comfort food with a kick, few dishes deliver the perfect blend of spice and satisfaction quite like Spicy Italian Sausage Pasta. This easy-to-make recipe combines the rich flavors of Italian sausage, the earthiness of mushrooms, and the creamy goodness of Alfredo sauce, resulting in a mouthwatering symphony of tastes that will leave you craving more. INGREDIENTS
1/2 lb Italian sausage
Finely chopped mushrooms
Finely chopped garlic
1 jar of Alfredo sauce
1 jar red pasta sauce
Diced white onion or shallot
Parmesan cheese (I use grated and shredded)
Salt, to taste
Pepper, to taste
Onion powder, to taste
Garlic salt, to taste
Oregano, to taste
Italian Seasoning, to taste
Red pepper flakes, to taste
1 box of pasta- I prefer Gluten-Free Penne, but whatever your favorite is go for it!
Instructions:
1. Cooking the Italian Sausage:
Start by cooking the Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat. Break it into smaller pieces using a spatula as it cooks, ensuring it browns evenly.
2. Adding Aromatic Vegetables:
Once the sausage is cooked, add finely chopped mushrooms, diced white onion, and garlic to the skillet. Sauté these ingredients until the vegetables are tender and have absorbed the flavorful essence of the sausage. You can also add the sausage to these vegetables, steps one and two are interchangeable in my mind.
3. Creating the Flavor Base:
Pour half of the Alfredo sauce and half of the red pasta sauce, combining them with the sausage and vegetables. Stir well to create a luscious and creamy base for your pasta.
4. Seasoning to Perfection:
Enhance the flavors with a careful sprinkle of salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic salt, oregano, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes. This is when I add about a fourth of a cup of grated parmesan cheese to the sauce mixture. Adjust the quantities according to your taste preferences and desired level of spiciness.
5. Cooking the Pasta:
While the sauce simmers and develops its robust flavors, cook your favorite pasta according to the package instructions. Once al dente, drain the pasta and add it to the skillet, tossing it gently to coat it evenly with the spicy sausage mixture.
6. Finishing Touch:
Before serving, grate Parmesan cheese over the top for an extra layer of savory goodness. The cheese will melt into the dish, adding a delightful richness.
