My top gluten free snacks for busy days

Hi friends!

I have always been a snacker, I would rather have snacks than a meal! But since having my gluten allergy, it can be hard finding quick options that are somewhat healthy but more so the grab and go items that make life just a little bit easier. For those of you who also have to/choose to eat gluten-free, you know that the struggle is REAL! But I wanted to share some of my favorite gluten free snacks for days that are super busy or if you are just a snacker like I am! These 8 gluten-free snacks are perfect for keeping you full, energized and satisfied throughout your busy day! Also this Free People Set has been a go to for a comfortable but a more put together look! You can shop the outfit here or you can click the photo and it will take you to the link! I love the purple color but think a neutral color would be good too!

1. Trail Mix

Trail mix is a timeless classic for a reason. It’s easy to customize, requires no refrigeration, and provides a great balance of protein, healthy fats, and carbohydrates. Create your own mix with:

  • Nuts: Almonds, cashews, or walnuts.

  • Seeds: Sunflower seeds or pumpkin seeds.

  • Dried Fruit: Raisins, cranberries, or dried apricots (make sure they’re unsweetened and gluten-free).

  • Dark Chocolate Chips: For a touch of sweetness.

Store it in portioned snack bags to grab and go! It is harder to find gluten-free trail mix in the store so in my opinion I would rather make it at home and add whatever I want to it than risk getting sick!

2. Harvest Snap Peas

The Harvest Snap Peas are one of my go to snacks, I love that they come in so many flavors and that so many of them are actually good.

These are the three flavors I really like:

  1. Harvest Snaps White Cheddar

  2. Harvest Snaps Artisan Sea Salt

  3. Harvest Snaps Light and Creamy Caesar

3. Rice Cakes with Peanut Butter + Toppings

Rice cakes are a gluten-free staple and can be topped with a variety of spreads to suit your taste. Pair them with almond butter, peanut butter, or sunflower seed butter, and add a sprinkle of chia seeds or a drizzle of honey for extra flavor and nutrients. These are light but also filling and perfect for a quick energy boost. You can also buy rice cake chips and dip them into peanut butter and put chocolate chips or half of a raspberry on top for some added sweetness.

4. Gluten-Free Granola Bars

Granola bars are a lifesaver for busy days, but not all are gluten-free. Look for brands that clearly label their products as gluten-free, or better yet, make your own at home. Brands I like to grab from the store are the MadeGood brand from Target and the Kind Protein Peanut Butter Bars, also from Target! If you are going to make some at home you can use ingredients like oats (certified gluten-free), nuts, seeds, and honey come together to create a delicious and nutrient-packed bar. I linked a recipe here from Better Home Base for Easy No Bake Granola Bars!

5. Hummus and Veggie Sticks

This one is more on the healthy side but hummus is a really great way to fill yourself up and get great flavor without feeling like you are just eating veggies. It is a fresh and crunchy snack and can go with a ton of different veggies (which obviously are gluten free). Carrot sticks, cucumber slices, celery, and bell pepper strips are all great vessel options. Pre-portion the hummus into small containers and pack the veggies in resealable bags for an easy snack that’s rich in fiber and healthy fats, they also sell pre-portioned containers if that is something you’re interested in!

6. Greek Yogurt with Berries and Honey

This snack is a little bit more complicated to take on the go but it is filling and worth the time! I like to buy greek yogurt and then add some toppings like fresh berries, chocolate chips and a drizzle of honey! It is so good! The protein in the yogurt keeps you full, while the berries add antioxidants and natural sweetness.

7. Flavored Mixed Nuts

In my mind, eating different nuts like almonds and cashews or pistachios fills me up quickly. I have five that I have on hand at all times that I really like, I also like having a variety so I don’t get bored of them! Also don’t come at me with plain almonds haha I only really like mixed nuts that are flavored, not plain at all!

8. Madegood Star Puffed Crackers

Maybe I have the pallet of child but one of the saddest snacks that I couldn’t have anymore when I had to go gluten-free was goldfish. These MadeGood Star Puffed Crackers are the closest thing I have found to them. They aren’t spot on but they do the trick and they come in little packages from Target. They have the classic cheddar flavor but they also have a pizza flavor that I will add to the cart from time to time as well!

Bonus Tips for Gluten-Free Snacking on the Go

  • Meal Prep: Spend a few minutes at the start of your week preparing and portioning snacks.

  • Read Labels Carefully: Always check for hidden gluten in packaged snacks.

  • Stay Hydrated: Pair your snacks with water, herbal tea, or another gluten-free beverage to stay refreshed.

I feel like I have compiled a pretty good list over the last 8ish years and I am always coming up with more because I get bored and like trying new things! These are some very simple and satisfying options, so you never feel like you have to compromise on taste when you’re trying to just make it through some of those busy days.
