Making a Caramel Macchiato Three Ways at Home
Making a Caramel Macchiato Three Ways at Home: Your New Favorite Coffee Ritual
Who doesn’t love a warm, velvety caramel macchiato? *raises hand* I don’t usually get Starbucks anymore, we got our Breville Espresso Machine and that pretty much changed the coffee game for us! So much so that we usually make coffee at home and save ordering coffee out as a special occasion or when we are on a trip! That perfect balance of rich espresso, sweet vanilla syrup, and smooth steamed milk—topped off with a generous drizzle of caramel—but totally customizable to your preference. As I mentioned, I like to recreate this sweet, creamy delight at home but I have three delicious ways to share with you how to make this for yourself! Whether you're looking to keep it traditional, make it dairy-free, or mix things up with a fun twist, I've got you covered. Let’s dive into how to master the caramel macchiato in the comfort of your own kitchen, and discover which version will become your new go-to brew!
Below are instructions for:
-regular iced caramel macchiato
-hot caramel macchiato
-healthier version of an iced caramel macchiato
The majority of this explanation of these is in the video at the bottom of the screen but I wanted to type out the instructions and ingredients that you will need just in case you don’t have time to watch. But really its only like 5 minutes!
What you will need
ground espresso {regular coffee grounds honestly work just as well, I use this here}
Salted Caramel Syrup or Jordan’s Skinny Syrup Caramel Flavor
Milk of choice: 2%, skim, almond, oat, etc.
Ice
In the video below, I am using my Keurig K-Cafe Coffee Single Serve Coffee Maker. Since making this video, we got a Breville Barista Express Espresso Maker and also love it. We still use both machines and love them! We have had the Keurig K-Cafe Coffee Single Serve Coffee Maker since December of 2021 and it still works great, if you are looking for a machine that uses k-cups, can make espresso but still make a regular cup of coffee, I can’t recommend it enough! We are so impressed with it making it in the move from Boston to Florida and lasting for over four years! We use these reusable k-cups in the Keurig and these coffee beans, which are espresso beans with notes of caramel and chocolate in it!
1. Iced Caramel Macchiato Recipe
Cover the bottom of the cup with Torani caramel sauce
Fill half of the cup with milk, stir the milk and caramel sauce until combined
Add ice to the cup {the cup should be about 3/4 full now}
Add two shots of espresso on top
Finish with a drizzle of caramel sauce to your liking
2. Traditional Caramel Macchiato Recipe
Cover the bottom of the mug with caramel sauce
Put two espresso shots into the mug
Add caramel and milk to a frother and froth that together
Pour the frothed milk and caramel sauce into the mug
Drizzle caramel sauce on top to your liking
3. Healthier Caramel Macchiato Option
Fill the bottom of the cup with the Salted Caramel Syrup
Fill half of the cup with milk and stir the milk and Salted Caramel Syrup until combined
Add ice to the cup {the cup should be about 3/4 full now}
Taste to see if you would like to add more Salted Caramel Syrup - if you do, only add a little it at a time! Too much can really ruin the taste of the coffee so just be cautious!
I was so happy when I learned how to make better coffee at home and I honestly feel like I have mastered the caramel macchiato at home! It not only saves money but also just tastes better when you can tailor the drink to your exact preferences. Whether you stick to the classic version, go for a dairy-free alternative, or experiment with a fun twist, I’m sure you will love these caramel macchiatos at home! If you have any questions at all you can comment below or you can send me an email at hello@emmatarynjones.com and I will get back to you as soon as possible!
